Event Calendar

It would be nice if there was a simple way to input events for individual days of the year, that would allow a highlight on the date in availability screen, similar to how Min LOS highlights now. So that when you hover over the date, it shows the event, July 4th, Concert, etc.

There are actually two features I'm aware of, and one of them is already available on the Availability page.

While it might not be exactly what you're looking for, I find it works quite well and only takes a couple of clicks. On the Availability screen, at the bottom under Room Availability Grand Totals, you can right-click on a date and select Edit Note. This opens a notes prompt where you can click Add and type in any details, including information about events. Once you click Save and close the prompt, the cell displaying the available room count will be highlighted in orange—indicating that there is a note attached to that date. Staff can then simply right-click the same cell and choose View Note to read it.

The second option is located on the Yield Management page.

Similar to the Availability page, you can right-click on a date cell—specifically the ones at the top of the screen, not the mid-screen date cells. When you do, you'll see the same Edit Note and View Note options. This version of the feature has a few added benefits: the note is automatically stamped with the user's name, date, and time. Once saved, the date text turns orange. Even better, staff only need to hover over the date cell to view the note or event message.

We actually had this feature added to the Yield Management page about a year ago to help inform our reservation staff about over-the-phone or walk-in specials. We found it to be a much more effective method of communication than handing out memos or expecting staff to remember details about special events or rate promotions.
