I would like to propose an enhancement to the tape chart functionality to make it more dynamic and user-friendly. This feature would focus on improving the handling of unassigned rooms and streamlining reservation management:
Proposed Features:
-
Display of Unassigned Rooms on the Tape Chart:
Unassigned reservations could be displayed on the tape chart as a placeholder based on room type and length of stay.
This would allow for a simple drag-and-drop functionality to assign those reservations to available rooms quickly.
-
Reassigning Rooms from Out-of-Order Wings or Floors:
When a wing or floor is taken out of order, the affected rooms could be unassigned and moved to an "unassigned" section on the tape chart.
This section would allow the reservations to be reallocated to other available room types with ease.
-
Roomless Booking Visibility:
Benefits:
Operational Efficiency: Streamlined process for managing unassigned reservations, particularly during maintenance or high occupancy.
Flexibility: Easier reallocation of reservations when operational changes occur, such as floor outages or rearranging guest stays.
Enhanced Guest Experience: Reduces errors and improves speed in accommodating guest preferences and resolving overbooked scenarios.
This functionality mirrors the dynamic systems used by other hospitality brands like Starwood and Marriott, where placeholders or N/R rooms allow for seamless adjustments directly on the tape chart.
This would be an excellent feature! Sometimes GDS reservations come in without a room number assigned. If that reservation doesn't get Tetrised/shoehorned into place at that time, it can remained unassigned much closer to arrival date than is comfortable.
You can create a reservation without an assigned #, in RDP. You can create it under 'Room Type'.
